Pittsburgh Comic Book Show has had the pleasure of selectively hosting the below creators at past shows.

Ben Harvey 

​Ben Harvey is an illustrator known for his versatility in a wide array of artistic styles, showcasing his passion for American comics and Japanese manga. He uses a variety of techniques, whether he's working with traditional mediums or digitally. Throughout his ​career, he has earned the attention of esteemed publishing houses such as Marvel, IDW Publishing, Dynamite Entertainment, Valiant Entertainment, BOOM!, Titan, Aftershock, and many more. Outside of the world of comics, he has also created illustrations for Wizards of the Coast on their Magic the Gathering x Marvel crossover series, Second Dinner, the developers of the mobile game Marvel Snap, and partnered with Epic Games to produce loading screens for their game Fortnite.

Don Simpson, PhD

Megaton Man #1 detonated on the scene in December 1984, and forty years later, Don Simpson is still best known as the creator of that satirical superhero series published by Kitchen Sink Press and Image Comics. Don is also creator of the science fiction saga Border Worlds (collected by Dover in 2017), Bizarre Heroes, a universe of characters surrounding the cast of Megaton Man self-published under Don’s Fiasco Comics imprint. and Marvel’s one-shot CRAZY! reboot (2019). A veteran of the 80s-90s indy movement, Don worked for every major comic book imprint in the late twentieth century including Mirage Studios (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Image Comics (Splitting Image, The Savage Dragon vs. Megaton Man, The normalman-Megaton Man Special, 1963), Fantagraphics (King Kong), and DC (Wasteland, Flash Annual, Secret Origins, Action Comics Weekly).

 

More recently, Don has been authoring his weekly prose novel, The Ms. Megaton Man Maxi-Series. Don teamed up with William Messner Loebs, Jason Moore, and Tom Orzechowski on Victory Folks—The Golden Age Public Domain Supergroup. 2025 will see the release of The Complete Megaton Man Universe Volume I: The 1980s (Fantagraphics Underground), including all the Kitchen Sink Press Megaton Man comics, and Megaton Man: Multimensions (Cosmic Lion Productions), an anthology of indy creators’ interpretations of and IP crossovers with Don’s creations.

Jim Rugg

​Jim Rugg is an Eisner and Ignatz award-winning cartoonist, designer, zine maker, and illustrator. His books include Hulk Grand Design, Conspiracy Comics, True Crime Comics, 1986 zine, Street Angel, the PLAIN Jane’s, BW, Afrodisiac, Superman, Octobriana, and Rambo 3.5. He is the co-creator of YouTube’s Cartoonist Kayfabe channel.

Tom Scioli

Tom Scioli is a critically acclaimed writer and artist who specializes in comics and graphic novels. He’s the author and illustrator of Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre, I Am Stan: A Graphic Biography of the Legendary Stan Lee, Jack Kirby: The Epic Life of the King of Comics as well as several science-fiction and superhero originals like American Barbarian, The Myth of 8-Opus, Godland and the upcoming Space Opera Xanadax Across the Unknown Dimensions of the Galaxy from Image Comics. He has reinvented established series with Fantastic Four: Grand Design, Super Powers, Transformers vs G.I. Joe, and a cyberpunk reimagining of Go-Bots. He is known for his singular drawing style, kinetic page layouts, and imaginative writing. He's one of a small number of auteur cartoonists who writes, draws, colors, and hand-letters his comics. He’s also the host of the pop culture focused video series, The Total Recall Show.

Arthur Suydam 

Renowned artist on Deadpool, Wolverine and more, Arthur Suydam, "The Zombie King," as he is known, rose to stardom for his work on the smash hit series Marvel Zombies, the lines at his booth at any given show are a testament to the enduring "zombie craze," with Suydam as a forerunner. He is also renowned as the Deadpool cover artist on Merc with a Mouth. As well as The Walking Dead. He is credited as one of the first artists to bring fine art painting techniques to the world of comics in books such as Cholly and Flytrap and Mudwogs.

Recent awards for Arthur include "The Spike TV Scream Award (Best Artist)," "Spectrum Gold Award for Institutional Art," "The San Sebastian Film Festival Lifetime Achievement Award," as well as the "University of Maryland Eastern Shore Lifetime Achievement Award," among others. 
 

His work can also be seen in works for Aliens, DCeased, The Walking Dead, Deadpool, Batman, Wolverine, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Ghost Rider, Army of Darkness, Moonknight, Vampirella, Sheena, Red Sonja, Tarzan, and too many to name here. His "Cholly and Flytrap" series has recently been compiled into a collected volume, marking that great achievement and its place in comic history.

Bill McKay

Michigan-based comic cover + pinup artist. Bill's work includes Zombie Tramp, Lady Death, Red Sonja, Vampirella and Unnatural. In late 2022, he launched his first creator owned title, Kim the Delusional, to great success.

Bob Hall

​Bob Hall has worked on many of Marvel’s books and characters including pencils for The Champions, Spiderman, Thor, What If, Doctor Strange, New Mutants, Team Up The Fantastic Four, three runs on The Avengers, the graphic novel, Emperor Doom and many others including the movie books for Willow, Darkman and the notorious 1980s Captain America film. He co-created The West Coast Avengers and Squadron Supreme and drew the Spiderman/SNLTeam-Up. He was an editor there in 1978.

For Valiant/Acclaim Comics, he wrote and penciled Shadowman, wrote Timewalker and created the “comic book-noir” series Armed and Dangerous. For DC, he wrote and drew the graphic novels, Batman DOA, I, Joker and It’s Jokertime and did issues of Batman and Chase.

He has done a variety of work since, working for Future Comics, a Platinum Kiss Comic, the new Valiant and covers for Marvel.

Recently, he has created an educational/fantasy comics about the measles virus, Carnival of Contagion, mosquitoes in Mosquitoes Suck, and a weekly comic page for kids on COVID, called C’rona Comix

He is also a theatre director, having directed over 200 plays professionally and founded a Shakespeare Festival in 2001 in Lincoln Nebraska

Khoi Pham

Khoi Pham is an artist and art mentor. His works include DC's Teen Titans, Marvel's Mighty Avengers, X-Men Legacy, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Chaos War, Incredible Hercules, Gambit, Mighty Thor, X-Factor, and Topcow's Cyberforce
